Since 1999, I have dedicated my career to residential design and construction. Over the years, I have come to believe that exceptional homes are not defined by size, cost, or style. They are defined by how well they support the lives of the people who live within them. A residence should provide comfort, connection, privacy, and a lasting sense of place.

My professional journey began in Boca Raton, Florida, where I spent five years studying residential design under Architect Rex Nichols while working on some of South Florida's most distinguished custom residences. Those formative years provided firsthand exposure to the planning, proportion, detailing, and client expectations required for ultra-high-end residential work.

After establishing my own practice, I continued serving clients throughout Florida while expanding operations into Tennessee in 2012. Along the way, I have participated in the planning, design, renovation, and construction of hundreds of residential and commercial projects across Florida, Tennessee, New Jersey, South Carolina, Georgia, Rhode Island, and Delaware. Those experiences reinforced a simple belief: successful homes begin with understanding how a family truly lives.

One advantage I have brought to clients throughout my career is the perspective of both a designer and a builder. Every decision made on paper must ultimately be budgeted, coordinated, constructed, and lived in. Understanding both sides of the process allows me to create solutions that are thoughtful, practical, and aligned with my clients' goals.

I believe natural light should be considered as carefully as walls and ceilings. Circulation should feel intuitive. Spaces should encourage connection while respecting privacy. Every room should have a reason for being and a relationship to the whole. A residence should feel natural from the moment you arrive and continue to reveal itself through years of daily living.

The goal is not to create something extravagant. The goal is to create something inevitable—a residence so carefully composed that if anything were added it would feel unnecessary, and if anything were removed it would feel incomplete.

Today, as Founder and Principal of JDR Design-Build, I guide clients through planning, design, and construction with a structured and thoughtful approach focused on creating homes that improve daily life for years to come.

My goal has always been simple: to create residences that improve the lives of the people who live within them—not just on the day they move in, but for years to come.
